Vignetted carte-de-visite portrait of Brigadier General Samuel Harriman, 13th Wisconsin Volunteers. The 13th Wisconsin was organized during the spring of 1864 in Madison, Wisconsin under the supervision of then-Colonel Harriman. The regiment first saw action at the Siege of Petersburg, where the unit received heavy casualties. In April 1865, following the successful capture of Fort Sedgwick, Harrison was given a brevet promotion to Brigadier General for his action since Petersburg.
