Calcium Chloride Surfacing

Applying calcium chloride to the surface of STH 19 in Dane County. Unpaved roads stabilized with calcium chloride produced less dust, although that type of dust control required regular patrol operations at least twice during the season to keep the surface smooth. Calcium chloride was used extensively on Wisconsin roads during the 1920s.
