Wisconsin
Map
This map illustrates the early settlement pattern of Wisconsin south of the Fox-Wisconsin waterway. It is unusual in that it includes the mythical Carver Grant or claim, territory supposedly granted to explorer Jonathan Carver by Sioux chiefs during his travels through Wisconsin in 1766-1767. This edition of Tanner's map lacks a legend and post-1842 cartographic details of later editions.
circa 1842
Tanner, Henry Schenck, 1786-1858 (cartographer)
