A 'site file' titled "Horlick Industrial Historic District" exists for this property. It contains additional information such as correspondence, newspaper clippings, or historical information. It is a public record and may be viewed in person at the Wisconsin Historical Society, State Historic Preservation Office. 2011- "Built in 1910-1911, the 2- and 3-story engine room complex (1450 Summit Ave.) is a series of interconnected building masses. Overall, the building is irregular in plan with cream brick walls and a flat roof, with the exception of the northwestern building mass which has a low-pitched gable roof with a slight parapet at each end. Most of the windows throughout the complex are 2-over-2 or 4-over-4 double-hung with segmental-arched crowns. A windowless turret rises from the northwestern end of the roof; a brick smokestack rises from the southeastern end of the roof. Entrances are located in all but the southeast elevation. An elevated enclosed walkway at the southwest elevation of the third story leads to the northeast elevation of factory building." -"Horlick Industrial Historic Districkt", WisDOT #2290-17-00, Prepared by GLARC (Gail Klein), (2011). |
