Constructed c.1920, the Gillett Hospital has brick walls and a flat roof surrounded by a parapet with a wide cornice, stone accents, and concrete coping. The lower story of the front (north) facade features a recessed central entrance flanked by plate glass windows, and a band of multi-light transoms spans the facade. The upper story of the front facade features three groupings of double-hung windows with multi-light upper sash. The east (side) elevation has pairs of similar upper-story windows, while lower-story openings contain pairs of square fixed single-light units. A historic photograph indicates that an additional plate glass window was located at the northeast corner of the east elevation; while the transom remains, the window opening below has been infilled and clad in replacement brick veneer. The 1929 Sanborn Fire Insurance map indicates that while the upper story housed the community’s hospital, the lower story functioned as a department store.
