| Additional Comments |
Brick and metal are the exterior fabrics on this 2 story commercial building. There are plate glass windows on the 1st story and a stepped back entry. The roof is flat. Second story brickwork is an "X" Pattern and also vertically laid. A cornice or entablature with 2 large endbrackets is at the top. Alterations have diminished the original character and integrity of this building. It has no architectural significance because of this. In 1887 this site had a 2 story detached frame building with a shingle roof. The building was also on the next site to the South (SC 24-21). It was a millinary shop The shop was still here in 1892 alt\hough the building had been altered. AFter this building was destroyed in the 1899 tornado nothing was built here until between 1900-1912. Thena 2 story brick building with composite roof was built. It was a drug and paint store. A 1900 photo shows a drugstore. The building has a cornice, geometric x-shaped brick work and awnings on both floors. |
