| Additional Comments | See HAER form. Photo codes: OUT-FRV 3:2-4. HAER INVENTORY (03/1981): The Osborn Manufacturing Company is the former Borden's Condensed Milk Company. The first of 3 building which comprise the plant was built in 1917. It consists of a two and a half story brick building with concrete foundation, gable roof, rectangular floor plan and arched, glass block windows with lug sills. It measurs 36 x 66 feet. A small brick addition was added to this building at an unspecified date but by appearances, prior to 1945. The second main building is a separate, one story structure built of concrete block with concrete foundation, gable roof and rectangular floor plan. It measures 16 x 40 feet and has arched glass block windows with slip sills. Its date of construction is undetermined. The third main building, a metal structure was bilt after 1945 and houses the bulk of Osborn's operations. Borden's occupied the original building until roughly 1930, when the plant was sold to Badger Boat. Osborn bought the building in 1968. The company employs 12 people, and builds industrial pallets. All of the buildings are presently owned by Precision Forest Products. The old milk building is rented out and wood products including paper cores are manufactured there. The concrete block building is vacant. The building built after 1945 is where Precision Forest Products makes pallets. |
