Additional Comments
The Chenoweth house is a modest, but nicely detailed example of the Greek Revival style. One story plus attic in height, the building is an H shape in plan with similar gables oriented to the street. A one story porch, with square posts, extends partially across each gable. A heavy entablature, with returned eaves defines each gable. Thin corner posts rise to the entablature. The exterior is finished with narrow clapbaords. The Chenoweth house is architecturally significant as an example of the local interpretation of the Greek Revival style. The majority of Greek Revival buildings in the city have been substantially altered, however, some retain the characteristic entablature and cornice returns.
