"William Rienow built this small free-standing building to serve as an easily-maintained meat market. To that end, the inside walls and floor were tiled and only the storefront had windows. The outside walls were built of rock-faced concrete blocks designed and manufactured by James Owens of Mazomanie, and early proponent of this style of block. A slaughterhouse and an ice house were located behind the meat market. In 1919 Rienow added a room across the rear to house a refrgerator.

Later the building was used by a floor covering business, for living quarters, as an American Legion hall, and for storage.

Reinow began in the meat business in 1893 and opened his own market in the basement under the post office in 1896." Mazomanie Downtown Historic District, Mazomanie Historical Society, 1993.
