"This barn-like building is a reminder that, in the early days of our century, horses provided the major source of transportation for the people of Mazomanie. Phillip Hamm built this large frame construction building to serve as a livery stable, a place where horses were kept and fed for a fee. Hamm also used it as the distribution center for his feed business. The exterior walls, still totally intact, are sided in vertical board and batten wood siding. The foundation is of rubble stone. Then horse-drawn days ended, this building was used for storage, and Hamm, who was born in the Mazomanie area, took over the local Standard Oil business."
