Jerry Apps

Jerry Apps is the author of more than fifty fiction, nonfiction, and children’s books on topics ranging from barns, one-room schools, cranberries, and cheese factories to the Ringling Brothers circus and the writing craft. He has worn many hats, including college professor, county extension agent, newspaper columnist, cattle exhibitor, and pickle plant worker. Today he spends much of his time writing; his most recent title is More than Words: A Memoir of a Writing Life.

John Gurda

John Gurda is a Milwaukee-born writer and historian who has been studying his hometown since 1972. His books include histories of Milwaukee-area neighborhoods, churches, and his most recent, Brewtown Tales: More Stories from Milwaukee and Beyond. John is also a photographer, lecturer, local history columnist for the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel, and an eight-time winner of the Wisconsin Historical Society's Book of Merit Award.

Mary Elise Antoine

Born and raised in Prairie du Chien, Wisconsin, Mary Elise Antoine is president of the Prairie du Chien Historical Society, board member of the Wisconsin Trust for Historic Preservation, and former curator at Villa Louis Historic Site. Her research focuses on the Upper Mississippi region before 1840. Her most recent book is Enslaved, Indentured, Free: Five Black Women on the Upper Mississippi, 1800–1850.

Scott Spoolman grew up in northern Wisconsin and has a passion for studying and writing about his native state’s geology and natural history. With a masters in science journalism and a background in textbook publishing, he has written several histories on the region including, most recently, Wisconsin Waters: The Ancient History of Lakes, Rivers, and Waterfalls.
