General MacArthur White Pine

A group of men and women posing at the base of an enormous white pine, named to honor the famous general. Several people are posing at the base of the tree. The tree was estimated to be about 400 years old, with a trunk circumference of 17 feet 6 inches in circumference, and a height of 140 feet. It was a remnant of Wisconsin's virgin pine forest. The MacArthur Pine fell to the ground in 2001, as a result of fire damage that may have been caused by a lightning strike.
