The Eau Claire USARC consists of 2 buildings: the training and administration building (this entry) and an Organizational Maintenance Shop (AHI #0139859). The buildings are in good condition, but have no significant architectural character or merit. The area immediately surrounding the buildings is covered by asphalt or concrete. The land has been significantly altered by construction activities and grading for parking areas. The facility is located in a residential area. The Reserve Center functions as an administrative and drill facility for Eau Claire USARC. Constructed in 1958, it is an irregular shaped building consisting of a one-story rectangular administration section connected to a 1½-story drill hall by a one-story enclosed corridor. The Reserve Center rests on a poured concrete foundation and has concrete block walls with a brown brick veneer. A recessed entrance is located on the west wall of the administration section. Additional entrances include single and paired metal pedestrian doors on the north, south and east walls. A metal overhead-retractable bay door is located on the east wall of the drill hall. Fenestration consists of three types: single-light hopper, single-light one-over-one, and sliding. There are also single-light fixed windows along the roofline of the drill hall. A mid-slope chimney is located towards the north end of the administrative section. Low-pitch gable roofs cover the structure. |
