Parapet with "dog tooth" brick work, corbeling and corbel stops at corners; recessed entrance altered.The building at 109 E. Cook remained the site of a meat market from 1873 through most of the 1920s. George Krech established his meat market in 1861. In 1873, Krech was located in a building at 109 E. Cook. This building was replaced about 1881. Krech continued his meat market in the building until its purchase by John A. Bryan about 1908. Bryan occupied the building through about 1911. Neil Brown who also operated a meat market purchased the building but not Bryan';s business in about 1913. He remaind in business to about 1920 (Portage Public Library n.d. [Catherine Krech, 1953]. Legg and Thuss opened their electricals hop in the building by 1929. In 1930, they purchased the building from A. A. Porter who acquired it by 1925.
