1898 Wisconsin Day Broadside, detailing notable events in state history

Wisconsin Day Broadside, issued by the Wisconsin Free Library Commision.

The Wisconsin Free Library Commission commissioned this broadside to commemorate the 50th anniversary of statehood in 1898. The Commission included a brief discussion of the era before statehood with some notable events in both national and state history. The broadside shows how late-19th century authorities wished to oversimplify the state's complicated past.
